How to apply perfume in winter
Warm scents are intense, so how you apply them matters as much as what you choose. These practical tips will help you get the most out of every spray:
- Choose warmer spots on the body – wrists, neck and the inside of the elbow. The warmth of the skin helps the scent unfold gradually.
- Do not rub your wrists – let the perfume dry on its own so you can experience every layer, from the top to the base notes.
- Apply it to clean, moisturised skin – skin is often drier in winter, and a scent usually lasts longer on moisturised skin. Choose an unscented cream so it does not clash with the perfume.
- Lightly mist a scarf or coat – fabric holds a scent for a long time. Test first on an inconspicuous spot, especially on light-coloured and delicate materials.
- Adjust the amount to the space – two to three sprays are usually enough for the office and indoor spaces, and you can add one more for an evening out.

It depends on your taste. If you love sweet, gourmand scents, try no. 131 or no. 119. For oriental and woody notes there are no. 114 and no. 1, and for creamy vanilla the unisex no. 143. The most reliable approach is to test several scents on your own skin.
Can I wear a winter perfume to the office?
Yes, just with fewer sprays. Scents such as no. 133 or no. 33 are subtle enough for everyday wear, while more intense compositions such as no. 114 are worth saving for the evening.
